Nutritional Therapy for Cystitis (Urinary Tract Infections, UTI's)
Cystitis or UTI's occurs due to an infection within the Urinary Tract System. The Urinary Tract system is made up of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, penis and urethra. Most UTI's are caused by a bacteria called E-coli (Escherichia coli), this bacteria is usually found in the intestines.
Cystitis is more common in women than men this is due to easier access of bacteria and/or vaginal secretions into the urethra due to the close proximity of the anus, vagina and the urethra. In men frequent infection may be due to an enlarged prostate gland.
Bladder infections usually present symptoms of an urgency to urinate, burning sensation when urinating, strong urine odour and cloudy urine appearance.
Nutritional Therapy works by addressing the root cause of symptoms instead of just treating symptoms, you will be provided with a plan which will include recommendations for dietary changes, lifestyle changes, diagnostic testing and nutritional supplements. We will devise a plan together which will be monitored over a length of time.
Nutritional Therapy is not a quick fix diet and needs to be maintained, the programme is a health enhancing diet which will help you to have more energy, will add vital vitamins and minerals to your body and will help you to lead a healthier and happier life.
